pWOBA

wOBA (weighted on-base average) measures a hitter's total offensive value by weighting each outcome (single, double, HR, walk) by its actual run value. League average is ~.310.

pWOBA is our preseason projection of a hitter's 2026 wOBA, built using an ElasticNet model trained on barrel rate, bat speed, K%, BB%, exit velocity, and quality of pitchers faced. It outperforms MLB's xwOBA at predicting next-season performance (r=.633 vs .613).
